We Serve Scholarships: The Shelter Island Lions Club will again be funding two scholarships, known as the We Serve scholarships, for graduating high school seniors who reside on Shelter Island. One will be for a four-year (bachelor’s level) degree and one will be for a two-year (associate’s degree or trade school/apprenticeship) program.

Additionally, the Club will also be funding the Jack Monaghan Memorial Award to a Shelter Island High School graduating senior.

Crescent Scholarship: Funded by an anonymous donor, but channeled through the Lions Club, the Crescent Scholarship is dedicated to a student or students who reside(s) on Shelter Island and will pursue an academic major in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), as well as Economics or Computer Science. This scholarship seeks applicants who carry an exemplary GPA, community service that exceeds the minimum requirement, and a passion for higher learning. (This scholarship could be awarded to one or multiple recipients in one year, as well as to the same recipient in multiple years, should they qualify.)

A single application form is being used for the three scholarships. The Jack Monaghan Memorial award will be given on the basis of teacher recommendations and does not require an application.

Please note that the application submission deadline is 5:00 pm on Friday, May 16, 2025.
