Islander Heather Lee, who is the Island’s school bus driver, had scammers steal her entire life savings. Two articles describing her situation and what can be done to help were published on November 19, 2021 in the Shelter Island Gazette and on November 20, 2021 in the Shelter Island Reporter —- here are the titles and links to those articles:
While a GoFundMe campaign has been started to replenish her lost savings, the Shelter Island Lions Club Foundation [a 501(C)(3) charitable foundation] is also accepting donations on her behalf. Donated funds will be held in a special account and only be used to help Heather recover from her loss. You may donate using your credit or debit card or with your PayPal account by clicking on the button below or you may mail your check, payable to Shelter Island Lions Foundation (with “Heather Lee” written on the memo line), to: Shelter Island Lions Club, PO Box 760, Shelter Island, NY 11964-0760 USA.
